There is no deity except You; glory be to You. Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers

A duʿā from Sūrah al-Anbiyāʾ in which Yūnus عليه السلام calls upon Allāh through tawḥīd, glorification, and confession of wrongdoing.

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

There is no deity except You; glory be to You. Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.

Lā ilāha illā anta, subḥānaka, innī kuntu mina al-ẓālimīn.

Context

This duʿāʾ was made by the Prophet Yūnus (عليه السلام) whilst in the depths of darkness — inside the whale, beneath the ocean, under the night sky. It is not a conventional supplication with an explicit request; rather, it is a declaration of tawḥīd, an affirmation of Allah's transcendence, and a confession of personal wrongdoing. It is recited when one is in a state of distress, constriction, or despair — particularly when one feels trapped with no apparent way out. It teaches that turning to Allah through acknowledgement of His oneness and one's own shortcomings is itself a powerful form of duʿāʾ.

Benefits

Combines tawḥīd, praise, and confession in a single duʿāʾ
Teaches humility and acknowledgement of one’s shortcomings
A means of seeking relief from hardship
Shows the power of turning to Allāh even without explicit request
