Inner Purity

The Qurʾān locates the source of most human failure in the heart. Inner purity is the ask that works at the root. It is the recognition that external righteousness built on an uncleansed interior will not hold.

an-Nās · 114:1
Say, I Seek Refuge in the Lord of Mankind…

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
مَلِكِ النَّاسِ
إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ
مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ
الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ
مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ

al-Muʾminūn · 23:97
My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the whispers of the devils, and I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me

رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحْضُرُونِ

al-Ḥashr · 59:10
Our Lord, Forgive us and our Brothers who Came before us in Faith, and do not Place in our Hearts any Ill Will Towards those who have Believed. Our Lord, You are indeed Kind and Merciful.

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ
