وَإِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْقَوَاعِدَ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
رَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِنَا أُمَّةً مُّسْلِمَةً لَّكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ
رَبَّنَا وَابْعَثْ فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِكَ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
And as Ibrāhīm was raising the foundations of the House, and Ismāʿīl [with him], they said: “Our Lord, accept from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Our Lord, make us both submitted to You, and from our descendants a nation submitted to You. Show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful.
Our Lord, and raise among them a Messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses, teach them the Book and wisdom, and purify them. Indeed, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.”
Wa-idh yarfaʿu Ibrāhīmu al-qawāʿida mina al-bayti wa Ismāʿīl, rabbanā taqabbal minnā, innaka anta al-samīʿu al-ʿalīm.
Rabbanā wajʿalnā muslimayni laka wa min dhurriyyatinā ummatan muslimatan laka wa arinā manāsikanā wa tub ʿalaynā, innaka anta al-Tawwāb al-Raḥīm.
Rabbanā wabʿath fīhim rasūlan minhum yatlū ʿalayhim āyātika wa yuʿallimuhumu al-kitāba wa al-ḥikmata wa yuzakkīhim, innaka anta al-ʿAzīz al-Ḥakīm.
Context
A supplication made by Ibrāhīm and Ismāʿīl عليهما السلام while raising the foundations of the Kaʿbah, combining action with duʿāʾ and seeking acceptance, guidance, and lasting benefit for future generations.
